Information About Weight Loss Surgery
Learning about weight loss surgery, that is what inspired me to start this website. My name is Andrea Edwards. Depending on the particular point and time in life, Andrea Edwards has been a willing participant, a worthy adversary, and a defeated opponent, to many of the circumstances that lead to obesity and morbid obesity.
Throughout my teenage and adult life I have searched for weight loss solutions. I have gone through most of the diets, pills, and potions that bombard the media, only to be left still searching for weight loss solutions and thinking about weight loss surgery.
Who is Andrea Edwards? I am a wife, a mother, a friend, a Christian, and an obese woman who understands the struggle and battle against obesity in a way that may be able to help others. To lose weight, you need to change your mind frame, your habits, and the way you view and think about food and exercise. Many people that need or desire to lose 100 pounds or more, including my husband, my sister, my stepson, and myself, have an unhealthy relationship with food.
Like so many others dealing with obesity, satisfying hunger is not the only reason for eating. There are many other reasons that cause us to eat, and overeat. It is those non-hunger related issues that need to be addressed in order to successfully lose weight, regardless of whether you are thinking about weight loss surgery or a weight loss program.
In my search for weight loss solutions, I had mistakenly viewed weight loss surgery as an easy way out. But it most certainly is not. In fact, obese people who go ahead with any weight loss surgery unwilling to obey the doctor's orders, and unwilling to make the necessary changes in their life, usually end up suffering from complications that could have been avoided.
Also, weight loss surgery complications can occur even if you do follow the doctor's orders strictly. There are risks involved with any type of operation. But for bariatric surgeons, operating on your stomach and/or intestines, those surgery risks become greater.
The Truth About Weight Loss Surgery
The important thing about weight loss surgery is to think of it as a tool to help you lose weight. It is not a magic procedure that will make you thin overnight, never to be fat again. It also will not change your feelings and relationship with food. That hard work you will still have to do for yourself. And if you don't change the way you think about food, you are wasting your time thinking bariatric surgery is the obesity solution for you. Obesity doctors, as well as medical insurance companies, want you to look at surgery for weight loss as a last resort. They would like to see you give a strong effort at different weight loss options, and be dedicated to your decision for at least six consecutive months. These weight loss attempts should be documented and monitored by a nutritionist and/or a medical doctor. After you have done your best, if your weight loss attempts end unsuccessfully, you may be considered as a candidate for weight loss surgery. After the doctors accept you as a patient, you then have to deal with the insurance companies. Many medical insurance companies aren't so thrilled about weight loss surgery and their results. As stated before, those obesity patients who don't change their bad habits can end up not losing most of their excess weight and/or regaining the weight after it is lost. Patients that do follow doctor's orders may still have unavoidable complications. Some examples would be gallstones, kidney stones, leakage, hernias, hypoglycemia, malnutrition, neuropathy, blood clots, stroke, heart attack, and severe depression. These potential side effects of weight loss surgery can cost medical insurance companies thousands of dollars in additional treatment.
Transfer Addiction After Weight Loss Surgery
Another thing about weight loss surgery, that some medical professionals underestimate or totally deny, is transfer addiction. After surgery, the ability and amount of food one can take in is drastically reduced. For many morbidly obese people, food has been the center of their lives for a long time. They have spent a considerable amount of mental and physical time obsessing, planning, and consuming their food. When their ability to eat large amounts of food is gone, some (not all) patients pick up another addiction. The transfer addiction can be as damaging as morbid obesity and the health problems they desired to correct or improve. Some examples would be alcoholism, gambling, becoming a shopaholic, smoking, or becoming sexually promiscuous.
Andrea Edwards Website Success
These are the reasons which led me to create this weight loss surgery website. I am not a member of the medical profession, but I am an obese woman desiring, and striving to lose weight, for the sake of myself, and my babies. I have been researching and studying all of the positives and negatives of weight loss surgery since 2004. And I have been obese since early puberty. I have experienced life as an obese teen, the struggles of an obese woman, and blessed with a successful pregnancy while obese. I wanted to give obese people as full of a picture as possible, when it comes to their choice of weight loss solutions. And believe me, Andrea Edwards has no experience when it comes to creating websites or even knowing what html stands for. But if you have something that you are passionate about, you can make money online, really. This website was created with SiteBuildIt. They take away all of the difficulty of building a website for those with no technical skills in that area, and over deliver on the tools and information necessary to create a professional site that attracts free traffic. So whether you have extensive knowledge about weight loss surgery or working with widgets, you too can learn how to start a website that actually gets found.
