Celebrity weight loss intrigues the mind of so many people. Reba stars Scarlet Pomers and Melissa Peterman weight loss stories have both caused the scales to go down. Why are we so interested in celebrities measurements, weight and sizes?

The stars are always in the eyes of the public, being scrutinized and put under a microscope. So, the pressure to look good and be thin can be overwhelming. If you find yourself in the overweight category it is best to map out a plan with your doctor, in order to lose weight. This will keep your body working in its best condition, and you have a better chance at avoiding the health risks that come along with obesity.

Melissa Peterman Weight Loss, How Did She Lose Weight?


Melissa Peterman, Barbra Jean from the TV show Reba, found herself needing to shed some pounds. Her celebrity weight loss path did not lead her to weight loss surgery. People who qualify for weight loss surgery are at least . 100 pounds overweight (morbidly obese), or they are obese with health problems, such as heart disease, asthma, osteoarthritis, or sleep apnea.

Scarlett Pomers Eating Disorder (Anorexia)

Scarlett Pomers, Kira Heart from Reba, has also had some issues with her weight. Unfortunately, instead of eating to much like most people, her eating disorder came in the form of anorexia. An eating disorder can take many forms including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, or a sampling of all three.

If you eat, or refuse to eat, in order to satisfy some psychological need it may be considered a eating disorder. Many times the individual may not recognize their eating habits as being abnormal, or they may think that they don't have a problem. That is why it is so important for their family and friends to be observant, and talk to their loved one if they believe an eating disorder is present.

Thankfully, Scarlett Pomers has a handle on her anorexia now, and is proclaiming to be a healthy young woman. She did seek out and attend an Eating Disorder Center under her mother's suggestion. You can see her talk about her condition below.

Problems with food can be an overwhelming obstacle to deal with. Unlike drugs or alcohol, you actually need to eat some form of food for the rest of your life if you want to live. Figuring out how to make your relationship with food a healthy one is the great challenge. And if necessary there is no shame in seeking out help, whether it be weight loss surgery or an eating disorder center.
