I am obese and I don't hate myself

by Fabulously Full Figured
(The Real World)

I am obese and I don't hate myself. I have been big for my age throughout my childhood, and as an adult I am still considered to be quite overweight. I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, I try to eat healthy, and I limit my sweets intake.

I would love to lose 30 to 40 pounds, but I'm not going to kill myself over it. My blood pressure is normal, as well as my cholesterol. I enjoy myself, life and food. Don't we have the right to live our lives the way we want to. The media is constantly pushing weight loss pills, potions, machines, videos, surgeries, and whatever else they think we may buy or go for.

I'm tired of chasing that unattainable carrot. If I do develop some sickness or illness then I may take more drastic measures to lose weight, but for now, I am happy. The billion dollar weight loss industry will have to sell their magic beans to someone else. Sorry to disappoint you.

Do you care what other people think?
by: Anonymous

Do you care what other people think about your size and health? I am not talking about strangers, but your family. Are they okay with you not wanting to lose weight to improve your health and live a longer, healthier, possibly happier life?

Some people say it's impossible to be fat and healthy. Your body's organs, especially your heart, work better when they are not working at double or triple capacity. So a little overweight (10-20) pounds isn't weight loss surgery worthy, but if you way double your suggested weight then you need to do something.

Go Ahead and be Proud
by: Anonymous

Go ahead and be proud of yourself. People always assume that if you are overweight or obese then you are lazy and unhealthy. That is just not true for everybody. I do believe that being 100 pounds overweight or more does put a lot of unnecessary stress on your body, heart, and organs, but according to the BMI index calculator standards most professional basketball players are obese. Come on!
