Irregular Period after Gastric Bypass Surgery

Anybody else have an irregular period after gastric bypass surgery?

I had my RNY about seven months ago. My menstrual cycle has not been normal since then. Right now it seems to be coming on every other week. I know that I'm not pregnant, but I am tired of bleeding so often.

I have been told that you cannot take birth control pills after gastric bypass because your body doesn't absorb any pills the same way. So I am looking in to possibly getting the depo shot, but this caused me to gain weight in the past. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do in order to get a normal period again? When will this stop, if ever? I would love to get some answers. Thanks.

Major Surgery can affect all women's periods

Having major surgery can affect all women's periods. Your body has went through a great trauma and your hormones can go crazy. You should see your gynecologist, or at least call them and let them know what your symptoms are. You really can't be sure what is causing your irregularity.
