Obese Teenage Girls - The Life of an Overweight Teen

Obese teenage girls have a rough way to go. Puberty and adolescence can be a rough time for any boy or girl. When you are overweight, or obese, these challenges become multiplied in so many different ways.

Your body goes through so many changes when you are a teenager. Many girls have to deal with acne, hormone changes, breast development, or lack thereof, and just trying to find their place in this world. Struggling to carve out your own individual identity is a part of growing from childhood, to adolescence, to adulthood. But what happens when you are what they call "a fat girl"?

Obese Teenage Girl Obese teenage girls can be ridiculed, criticized, ostracized, and teased mercilessly. This abuse can come from school, from home, and from strangers.

But what can hurt the worst is the criticism from your family. Parents and other relatives can sometimes cause deep cuts without really knowing they've done so. That's why it's important to speak up for yourself, and let them know how their words and actions make you feel. In most cases, your family truly loves you, and may not know how much they hurt your feelings, confidence, and self-esteem.

Not everyone discriminates against obesity. There are people who understand and acknowledge how difficult it is to lose weight, and how food can become an addiction that is hard to break, even with weight loss help.

Some obese teenage girls are able to ignore the negativity and still have high self-esteem. They realize, accept, and glory in their individual beauty. We are all wonderfully made, and have a purpose in life. It is important to love yourself, no matter what size you are.

Teenage Weight Loss Surgery

There are a growing number of parents that are now permitting their overweight teens to undergo weight loss surgery. Obesity surgery has helped many overweight people lose a considerable amount of weight, but there are risks as well. Weight loss surgery can result in side effects such as vitamin deficiencies, hernias, anemia, and smelly gas, just to name a few.

Weight loss surgery is a VERY personal decision. You have to be committed to make the necessary changes in order to lose weight. Some of the complications that occur after obesity surgery happen because patients do not follow the instructions given to them by their bariatric surgeon. Changes in your diet are necessary in order to lose weight, whether you have a weight loss surgery or choose a weight loss program.
