What do you think is the best way to lose weight? I think the best way to be thin regardless of health is don't eat and exercise more. It's as simple as that!

Thin? bad choice of wording
by: Anonymous

I don't like the word "thin". The more important term here is "healthy". Models, and much of society live off the word thin, when being thin is just as unhealthy as being fat, if not more. The best way to lose weight isn't the same from one person to the next, but it is a lifetime commitment. Some people can cut back the calories, and increase their cardio, others fail. Then some people, like myself, resort to having an aid to lose weight, such as Gastric bypass, or a dietary program. Regardless of how you look at it, or which path you took, the goal is the same "getting healthy" not getting thin.

That is easier said than done.

It kills me how people believe that being overweight, obese, or morbidly obese is a choice that people make independent of any other factors. That is ridiculous. Most people eat for so many reasons other than hunger that it is absurd to think that you could take away their "drug of choice" without treatment. And by treatment I am referring to counseling as well as a program retraining them how to eat.

If it was as simple as not eating so much food and exercising then how go you explain the transfer addiction that many people who have had weight loss surgery weight loss surgery go through. They just replaced food with another addiction like alcohol, sex, gambling, shopping, or something else.

I'm not saying all overweight people have underlying issues, but most do. And willpower just doesn't do it for people dealing with deep rooted, longstanding issues that have been a part of their lives for as long as they can remember. But if you are that strong, more power to you.
