What is the cheapest place to get gastric bypass surgery

What is the cheapest place to get gastric bypass surgery? I am morbidly obese, and have been for almost all of my life. This would be including my teenage years. So you could imagine how much fun I had growing up.

The teasing stops once you leave high school, for the most part. But then you have the stares, or you will catch someone looking at you like you're a disgusting pig that doesn't deserve to live. Well, I am 35 years old now and I'm sick and tired of being fat. I have a 3 year old son and I do not want him to be teased because of me once he starts school. I am ready to break the curse of obesity.

The only problem is that my insurance doesn't cover any weight loss surgery. I have been saving up for a year now, but it costs so much money I don't know when I'll be able to afford it. It would really help me out if someone told me what is the cheapest place to get gastric bypass surgery done. I didn't want to go to Mexico, but I will if I have to. But is there any state in America with reasonable rates?

Calculate the true cost of going to Mexico
by: Anonymous

You should calculate the true cost of going to Mexico for surgery instead of the U.S. Add up the cost of airfare, a hotel, an overnight stay at the medical facility (which is recommended), and the inconvenience and hassle of air travel after having major surgery. It may not be worth the dollars you are saving.

I'm not saying that they don't have experienced medical professionals, but I am saying that I wouldn't want to deal with all of the inconveniences. I have had liposuction and the brazilian butt lift done in Mexico, and I wish I had've stayed here. It was soooo painful getting on the plane the following day, dealing with a cab, security check, the tight airplane seats (you will still be obese the day after), the bumpy landing, walking through the long terminals, walking to my car after getting off of the shuttle, driving home....you get the idea.

It may not have been so bad if I had help and someone came with me, but then you have to add on those additional costs as well. I think gastric bypass surgery is too complicated and invasive to travel so far to have it done. I didn't even touch on what happens when/if you have any immediate complications. American surgeons are not eager to work on other American surgeons bariatric patients. Just imagine how willing they are to work with a patient who had surgery done by a surgeon in another country altogether!
